Hello There
I am Sherwin Jaleel. I am an Open Group certified Distinguished Architect, and I work for IBM.
Computer technology has been an endlessly intriguing subject to me and for as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by it. I gravitated towards computers after getting hooked to programming in BASIC when at high school. Back in 1993, I relished training a neural network to recognise characters on an Intel 80286 PC. I still, have the C code for it on a 5-inch floppy disk.
I earned a Master’s in Computer Science in 1996, and I have spent the last two decades in the IT industry, rolling up my sleeves, getting into the weeds and doing whatever it takes to solve some of the biggest challenges that clients whom I work with have.
From an early age, I have been fascinated by how things work. When at primary school, I took apart a mechanical watch, trying to figure out how it worked. I was not very popular at home that day after failing to put it back together again. I almost did. It was the mainspring that got me! I have always been curious, wanting to figure out how things work. A trait that has helped me solve some of the biggest problems that I encountered in the IT industry. Not very long ago I architected a solution that processed 40% GDP of a country. After meticulous and relentless analysis, I eventually identified a surgical tweak that increased the throughput of that solution by nearly 300%. Industry experts acknowledged it as an immense fete; however, to me, it was no different from the mechanical watch; only this time, I did put it back together again.
Technology, when harnessed and used nobly, can make this world a better place.
I believe technology, when harnessed nobly, can make this world a better place. I also believe technology, its insights and knowledge when shared, will result in greater benefit to our world. This blog is your window into my world of tech knowledge. I write about a blend of all things relating to digital and tech that I have figured out or still am figuring out.
When I’m not deep-diving into technology, I’m improving my gardening skills, learning to play the guitar, watching Bargain Hunt on the BBC, preparing sermons for Church, writing my other blog or simply hanging out with my family. Hopefully, we cross paths in the real world someday, and together we can make it a better place.
